Nancy P. McClelland
Nancy P. McClelland is a retired partner of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher where she continues to maintain an office. She joined the firm in 1977. She was the national co-chair of the firm's Labor and Employment Law Practice Group and specialized in litigation and counseling of labor and employment matters on behalf of employers.
Ms. McClelland represented the firm's clients in state and federal court, arbitration tribunals, and before administrative agencies in matters including employment discrimination and sexual harassment, wrongful termination, wage-and-hour law, and affirmative action compliance. In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. McClelland regularly advised and counseled Firm clients on such issues as executive contracts, employee discipline, internal investigations, employee terminations, post-employment restrictions (e.g., non-complete clauses), employee policy/handbook review and response to/handling of/settlement of informal employee/employer disputes.
A graduate of the University of Southern California Law Center, and a Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, Ms. McClelland is a former member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Judicial Evaluation Committee. Ms. McClelland was appointed to serve as Counsel for the Independent Commission on the Los Angeles Police Department (the "Christopher Commission") and as a member of the LAPD Police Commission Rampart Review Panel. She also has lectured and conducted seminars on employment law, including the law of sexual harassment. She is a senior editor of the California Employment Litigation Practice Guide, published by The Rutter Group and a member of the UCLA Medical Center Board of Advisors.
